Aidan qualified from Queen’s University of Belfast Medical School in 1985 and undertook his training in orthopaedic surgery in Belfast. He spent time in research developing the use of Botulinum toxin in Cerebral Palsy. For this work he was awarded his doctorate and also won the prestigious Richmond Prize of the American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine for the best research paper presented in 1994. Aidan was a fellow at the Gillette Children’s Hospital in St Paul, Minnesota and the Shriners Hospital in Minneapolis where he worked with Dr Jim Gage. He subsequently was a fellow in Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. Aidan returned to Belfast and Consultant practice in 1997. Aidan’s NHS practice is based at Musgrave Park Hospital and the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children. Belfast. Aidan’s practice is largely pediatric although he would see some young adults with different conditions.

I would like to say how pleased I was with Mr Maurice O’Flaherty. Before attending the Twentysix Clinic I checked with my own Doctor and was told the NHS process would be significantly longer (approx 18/24 months). Mr O’Flaherty was recommended to me and I can confirm that during my surgery and after, all care was excellent.
I first went to see Mr O’Flaherty in 2016 concerning a painful joint with my big toe,which was aggravated by running or any kind of high impact exercise.He did a thorough and extremely professional assessment ,then presented me with my treatment options. At this stage I chose to delay any further treatment ,as I did not want to commit to surgical intervention.

I can not recommend Dr Maurice O’Flahertys enough to anyone suffering life a foot or ankle injury that requires surgery to fix. I was first I introduced to Dr O’Flaherty two years back while stuffing from a broken bone located behind a big toe.
